When Mekus Tanager was hired to assist with the relocation of Freddie Mac’s Chicago offices into a new 40,000-square foot facility in the 333 West Wacker Drive office building, we were asked to design a flexible and efficient space that takes advantage of the unique building floorplate while incorporating cutting edge office technology. The architecture of the space springs from the building shape and from the furniture details that are echoed throughout.  In order to create a flexible working environment, the Mekus Studios design scheme allowed for a ratio of open plan workstations to private offices of 85% to 15%.  This facility incorporates state-of-the-art communication and data systems in a predominantly open plan environment.  Each workstation is wired for current and future computer equipment needs supported by data and voice communication systems to interface with other regions within the Freddie Mac network.  Other special areas include conference, computer, support rooms and a multi-disciplined training room.
