Design Program: Rettenmaier is a German Company that selected Schoolcraft, Michigan to build its first United States operation. Client confidentiality was extremely important, as was maintaining site and building security in this competitive industry. Rettenmaier manufacturers food grade cellulose fiber. The facility included numerous large storage silos for ground cellulose product, trucking docks, a large warehouse, and offices. The HVAC system was complex, featuring a large dust collection system and pneumatic conveying, with integral fire and explosion protection.
Design Challenges: The most unique aspect of the new manufacturing facility is it's design to be explosion resistant due to the dust generated from the cellulose.
